The current Bangladesh team (at least the team for the shorter versions) looks like a terrific outfit.
The fast bowling unit led by the skillful veteran Taskin Ahmed is more than ably supported by the fiesty n fiery Tanzim and the super-crafty Hasan Mahmud. The spin department is in the equally adept hands of the two offies Mehidy & Mahedi and the young leggie Rishad.
The batting unit solidly anchored at the top by the classy Litton Das has the hyper-charged Emon playing the perfect foil.
They have an embarrassment of riches in terms of all-rounders with Mahedi, Mehidy, Tanzim (who packs a punch!) bolstering the middle and lower middle order.
The real talent though to watch out for is Jaker Ali. This volcanic shot maker is one to keep an eye out for in future. The more I see of him the more impressed I am. He will win Bangladesh many many matches in the future.
To sum it up, a wealth of young talent in that squad which the new coach Phil Simmons and his team will have to nurture and mould into consummate professionals.
A historic away win versus Pakistan and then the drubbing at the hands of the Men in Blue in the longer format must have taught them some invaluable lessons.
In the shorter format, they just whitewashed the Windies 3-0 in the just concluded T20i bilaterals.
This bunch seems to be itching to create more history and they certainly have the talent to do so.
Exciting times for Bangla Cricket.
